Meeting 7-9:00pm-ish on August 6th, 2026 with the monthly meeting happening at Laurel Auto Clinic, aka “Carl’s Shop” in Laurel, MT. You should know by now where this place is at. Attendees tonight were Carl, Crandell, Jordan and Crowly, Jess, Luke, Dave, Jared, Lane and Beckett, Ken, Briant, Chris, Kindra and Matt.
—-*Carl Jones (El Jefe), Matt Boggio (El Jefito), Lane (Treasurer), and Kindra (Secretary) graced us with their presence this evening. *—-
TREASURERS REPORT:
The club’s finances include: $25, 326.55 Big American Boffos. Helena needs to be paid, invoice just arrived ($1150) and event dues are paid. Helena Hot Shots was a ‘huge’ money maker, and it was a valuable event because we found the floor with the number of entries to turn a profit. That number is 38. After all payments made and profits brought in, we netted a whopping $26.95.
*Lewistown – THIS VENUE ROCKS!!! We had out inaugural event this weekend, and it was all the fast. All the exciting. All the rage. There was tall grass for camping. Gravel for tire-flinging. Beautiful asphalt for gripping. Smoke in the air. Heat in the Overall Raw times and decimation in the Pax times. Shake up in the Cobalt Cup? Yes. More to come when we meet in September.
*Acton – August 22-23 dates seem to have a conflict with the air show in Billings. No worries tho. If you can only come out one day and not the other, fine. If you come out for both days, cool. If you don’t come out at all, I guess that’s ok too. There will be patching with cold patch August 12 at about 6pm. We agreed to 10 bags of cold patch that we plan to lay, with 2 bags for the trailer as back up. The idea is to get the cold patch set before the event so it has time to cure and harden.
*Track and Track Design – Coming from the SCCA, we now need to have certified track designers. The name and design are required to be entered into the online paperwork at the time of sanctioning. If you think you have what it takes, maybe you’d like to be the one to decide features or just how long to make that glorious slalom you always wanted, talk with Carl or Matt and get your certifications in order. They know what to do and can help you get started.
*RallyX – Who is in charge here, anyways?!? It is Jordan. We are certain he will be great! Help him get situated. Be kind. Be forgiving. Make sure to help him be successful as he navigates this position. The schedule will be started soon so come to some meetings and get your opinion heard. Or email Carl and give him an earful. Jordan will:
Be at every event.
Schedule events.
Deal with the trailer.
Make decisions.
Have an available phone number.
And delegate applicable tasks to able-bodied persons.
*Helmets – Check your brain buckets peeps, the final SNELL year is 2010, as those helmets are only good until October of this year, 2026. The SCCA has extended through this season to allow the new year rating to be maximized for your new purchase. If you’re unsure, talk with Briant, our new Chief of Safety/Tech Inspection/Master Classer.
*Pronto – We are still waiting on Pronto to give us our RallyX resutls from this season. Look out for these on FaceBook. Should be soon…..
*Year End Party – Yes. There will be one. Yes, it will be at the same venue. Yes it will be a pot-luck style. Yes, you can bring your mother’s famous Chocolate Mousse with Raisins. Might be lots of leftovers of that, but make sure to bring something to share.
AAAAANNNNNDDDDD………
*****It would be that fate may have smiled upon us. Crandell has a buddy that has land. Lots of land. And money he wants to spend tax-free. Carl has sent out an email, and the property is shown. We need ideas to develop a track/course/pad for our club. If you have questions, come to a meeting because I am certain it will get discussed again. This extremely attractive, well-dressed, great-smelling man is already planning on putting in a private airstrip, and has aspirations of a walking path next to the small water feature near this lot. Possibly beach voleyball…. He is looking for a club such as ours with a long-standing reputation full of upstanding members such as ourselves to help invest in and design his property. Refer to the email from Carl and see what this is all about, and GET THOSE IDEAS OUT THERE!!! ****
