October 2026 Meeting

Meeting ran from 7:00–9:00 PM-ish on October 1st, 2026, at Laurel Auto Clinic (aka “Carl’s Shop”) in Laurel, MT. You should know by now where this place is at.

Attendees tonight: Carl, Crandell, Dave R., Briant, Jordan, Josh, Luke, Dave K., Lane, Chris, Kindra, Angie, and Matt.

We did not have a September meeting, which was good because I was gone. I told Carl to take notes or have Lane take notes, but the meeting was just canceled instead, lol. Just kidding. September was just busy.

Carl Jones (El Jefe), Matt Boggio (El Jefito), Lane (Treasurer), and Kindra (Secretary) graced us with their presence this evening.

Treasurers Report

The club’s finances include about $25,000.

  • Pronto has been paid up for the 1st half of the year (about $450).
  • We have outstanding payments to MSR for weekend memberships from the last few events, totaling about $40–50.

Trophies

The voting window has technically closed. However, if you have a name in mind that you feel is best deserving to dust the monstrosities that are trophies for Spirit of The Sport and Most Improved Driver, give the lucky names to Carl or Matt. Otherwise, fate will be left to them to pick someone to foster their care for the next 12 months.

There is one perk in tending to these beauties: the chosen/voted winner gets to have their name engraved on it for all to see in years to come. The trophies will be handed out at the banquet later this month, so don’t dawdle.

Banquet

The year-end party is coming!! It will be potluck style, so please bring something to share—such as a side (humor is always welcome too). Please keep this venue alcohol-free (no EOH, please).

Burgers will be provided. If you’ve competed with us this season, please come hang out with us again!! Lots of laughs and fun are guaranteed, and probably a ping-pong table too. Carl will bring the grill, and Lockwood IGA will donate the burgers and buns. Are they nice buns? You decide. Kindra and Chris have lots and lots of paper plates, so don’t be shy. Maybe not the best paper plates (we’re talking double/triple layer here), but better than using your hands, you monster.

  • WHERE: 2909 Millenium Circle – Beartooth Room
  • WHEN: 6:00 PM on October 23rd, 2026

Track and Track Design

Coming from the SCCA, we now need to have certified track designers. The track name and design are required to be entered into the online paperwork at the time of sanctioning.

If you think you have what it takes—maybe you’d like to be the one to decide features or just how long to make that glorious slalom you always wanted—talk with Carl or Matt and get your certifications in order. They know what to do and can help you get started.

RallyX Update

Who is in charge here, anyways?!? It is Jordan. We are certain he will be great! Help him get situated, be kind, be forgiving, and make sure to help him be successful as he navigates this position.

Rules & Votes

  • Event Days: A vote was brought forward to move RallyX events to Saturdays. It was voted down and events will stay on Sundays to help include everyone.
  • Points System: A vote was brought forward to disregard the points system for RallyX. It was voted to abolish the points system. However, if you choose to follow the points for your own tracking, you are welcome to. Get with Jordan if you have questions.

Jordan’s Responsibilities

When it comes to RallyX, Jordan will:

  1. Be at every event.
  2. Schedule events.
  3. Deal with the trailer.
  4. Make decisions.
  5. Have an available phone number.
  6. Delegate applicable tasks to able-bodied persons.

RallyX Schedule

  • December 6: Big Sky
  • January 10: Big Sky
  • February 7: Flint’s
  • March 7: Flint’s
  • April 4: YDS
  • April 18: YDS

Posters will be made. Sadly, the selection period for choosing a representative car for RallyX has sped by undetected, so there will be an executive mandate to choose a fair market value image. Hopefully you were fast, hopefully you were good-looking, and hopefully you don’t have a booger hanging out. May the odds be ever in your favor!

Venue & Project Updates

YDS

Dirt work will need to happen soon. A SkidSteer is $275 a day plus the rental cost of the haul trailer. If you or anyone you know has access to some sort of equipment that can manipulate dirt (shovels are cool, but we’re thinking something bigger…), get with Jordan. The date is coming soon and many hands make light work. Briant is thinking we may be able to borrow the SkidSteer from RDO. More updates to come, but we will plan for November 7th.

Venues (The Metra)

Jordan has made some phone calls, and Costco will need to be followed up with.

As for The Metra… where do I begin? Jordan did get ahold of the commissioner and was told it was on the Metra. The Metra countered that it was on the commissioners. It has been a revolving door, but “apparently” there was a $140K topcoat/seal placed and our tire marks were/are still visible. So IDK.

Helmets

Check your brain buckets, peeps! The final SNELL year is 2010, meaning those helmets are only good until October of this year, 2026. The SCCA has extended through this season to allow the new year rating to be maximized for your new purchase. If you’re unsure, talk with Briant, our new Chief of Safety/Tech Inspection/Master Classer.

Rob Ferguson Property (Lockwood)

Crandell has been in consistent talks with Rob, and he has made progress with his air strip. Thanks to Dave for all the ideas and others for their input for this piece of land.

It seems there are some places where we can terra-form the water feature for more asphalt space, and other places where we will need to avoid placing track altogether. The design is ongoing and evolving, and the new Lockwood interchange will slow things down a bit. Still, he is pushing forward and we are so thankful to be involved.

Rob will be working with the pavers and is hoping to utilize the common route for the interchange to help keep costs low for the venue. Keep those ideas coming, and make sure to get with Carl so he can pass the info/questions along to Crandell.

Important Dates

  • October 10–11: Helena – 2 Pad Party – Region 52
  • December 6: Big Sky RallyX
  • January 10: Big Sky RallyX

Meeting adjourned! We finished out the night looking at Lane’s Skyline for another 2 hours. He was kind enough to fire it up for us so we could scratch our brains with its beautiful sound. It is a RHD, and man is it immaculate. He is a lucky dude. Congrats!
