April 2026 Meeting

Yellowstone Region 108 club meeting on April 2, 2026 at Carl’s Shop, Laurel Auto Clinic in Laurel, MT. Usual time, 7 pm.
Officers tonight include Carl (Regional Executive), Matt (Regional Vice Executive), Lane (Treasurer), Kindra (Secretary).
Attendees include Sawyer, Bill, Jordan, Chris, Jared, Micah, Luke, Josh, Dean, Briant, and Pepe… The best, most awesome honorary club member and giver of the most best attention of all in the group. And possibly the hairiest, but since almost no-one goes without a shirt, it really is hard to decide. Prior to the meeting, it was decided that Sawyer would be receiving a beating with a rubber hose, but it is unknown why. You just had to be there. Maybe next month when officers are voted in… If you only make one meeting a year, make sure it is this one as we will be voting for officers, as well as important club policies for the next club year. May 2026 to May 2027. If you have any input, make sure to tell Carl, and he will add it to the agenda. Or just show up. Or just come to a meeting if you don’t have any input…. whatever. Carl has plenty of seating, and it was apparent this evening that the guys will just sit in a chair. Personal space be damned. It was Awful crowded between Briant, Josh, Luke, and Micah tonight. They kept the chairs seemingly TOO close…..

Treasurers Report – We got money, and you know it….Take it out your pocket and show it then throw it…(who sings that song…? lil’ Wayne and T-pain) $21,132.82. Bulk of the bill for registrations from last event have been paid, no outstanding debts greater than $500 at this time, and about $2k in the petty cash. Flint was paid out of the bag, and Luke counted it. We have agreed he is ok to do that, he seems pretty good. Is it accurate? probably. Did Luke have to take his shoes off to count that high? Also probably. It would also appear that we have made about $800 from Rally this season, and it is exciting that all debts paid…. we are UP about $300 from October of 2025. Yay!

Ice Breaker – Loren is hosting an Ice Breaker in Helena, and is asking for attendees to come and play. May 9-10, come to Helena and break the ice with Region 52. Learning/practice/dusting off the skills on Saturday with instruction and practice, with an autocross event on Sunday. Loren says there will be “a couple circles on the big pad to practice discipline and patience and determine if car setup is neutral-not pushing or tail wagging. Then a tight slalom and turn around. Finally a big slalom and sweeper exercise. The slaloms are timed to measure progress”. If these skill development exercises sound like it’s what you need to hone your skills, come out and get a head start and start sharpening those driving muscles!

Cone Cleanup – Come clean some cones, and have a good time for a few hours with your friends and help get the trailer race ready for summer fun! Here’s the deets:
Where? Lanes place. Get address from Carl or Lane.
When? April 26th
Time? 1pm until its done!! Many hands make light work and it goes pretty fast 🙂

Tech Day – Get those racecars race ready and make check in at events easier by teching your whip prior to the first event. Annual Tech Day at Archie Cochranes Ford on May 2 from 12pm-4pm. Trailer will be clean and presentable for discerning eyes, current schedule will be ready, and get a chance to meet some of your favorite club members and swap stories.

Laurel – The Laurel Municipal Airport is foaming at the mouth to allow us not only one weekend, but 2 weekends. We will have a few things to consider like keeping a path for people to walk along and not blocking the runway…. but overall they think they can find us future dates in the upcoming seasons, help with advertising, and possibly some food trucks as well! This could be a big, positive turn in venues/events for our region. These dates will possibly be on the schedule posters, which are still in the review/proofing/printing stage. We are looking at June 27-28 and September 12-13. More to come!! Also, the cost is so reasonable, it’s ridiculous.

YDS – It was brought to our attention that the Blue Angels Air Show is the same weekend as our YDS event August 22/23. We voted to keep our YDS weekend, and those that go to the Blue Angels Air show will just miss out on our fun times one of those days. We will procced as planned.

AIRPORTS – Couple of things….

  1. Bridger: We do not need to bring our events to City Council anymore.
  2. Hardin: Bill reached out, no response.
  3. Roundup: Bill reached out again, talked with the same guy, but he wasn’t sure if he had the information right. Or knew our name. Or if we could come out. Said he would “put our info on a sticky note, and call us back”.
  4. Harlowtown: Bill called, they said they were excited for the opportunity, and will call us back.

Sanctioning – Carl says sanctioning for Helena Contract has been completed, and will be working on other venues to get that completed for the club. Good job, Carl!

Event Prices – It was a bit different in driver fees when we were utilizing the Metra and due to the horrendous venue pricing, we had to increase the cost of participation to the drivers for that venue. Carl put in for review tonight, to streamline driving fees across all venues to make it easier for the treasurer and table help and keep things simple. Since Lewistown and Laurel are new venues, but costs are expected to be similar to other venues, it was voted on to keep driving fees the same as all other venues. Driver costs are now as follows:
Member: 1 day – $45, 2 day – $65
Non-member: 1 day – $60, 2 day – $90
1st time driver: 1 day – $40, 2 day – $60

Cones – It was discussed previously that our supply of cones has severely dwindled due to Night Rally, and Matt estimates our cone supply as about 150-200 cones when the new ones are added to the trailer at Cleanup Day. Bridger (thus far….) takes the highest number of cones for set up at about 300 cones. We discussed again about increasing the cone count and Dean has stated he is planning to make a trip to Chicago later this month. It was voted and passed that Dean will purchase as many cones as he can safely carry in his 4Runner. Dean stated he will front the cost, and Lane said the club will re-imburse him after he returns. We decided that the cones need to be the 18″ orange ones, and the lighter, 2lb plastic for optimal bumper protection. We all know that ‘thump’ a cone makes when it hits our splitter, or the grinding noise they make as they are dragged around the pavement in the wheel well.

Hooptie Race – we decided to participate in our annual Hooptie at another venue possibly, or at YDS August 22. Lane and Jared discussed outfits, and there may be a shopping day coming up later this summer for this spectacle.

May Meeting – Super great, very important meeting that you DO NOT want to miss…. our May meeting where we as a group of extremely well skilled drivers, elect officers for this splendid club we are a part of. It is also the meeting when our members vote on any policy changes or rules adoptions to the region. Super important. Very necessary. Make sure to be there. No cap. We will have this on May 7 at 7pm at Carl’s place.

RallyX – Big Sky had a lower-than-average turnout last month. Sad day. They decided to have some track work done, starting the day of our event, and sadly, we will not be hosting our final event there. Dean and Josh said they would like to still have an event, and Luke said he only cared that the date was kept the same. It was voted to keep the same weekend (April 12) and Matt will see what he can do for getting YDS as our last venue. Keep your eyes peeled, and look to the Facebook page for updates.
