Club Meeting, February 5th, 2026 at Carl’s shop, Laurel Auto Clinic in Laurel, MT. Attendees tonight include Carl, Dean, Jordan, Luke, Briant, Lane, Jared, Jessica, Chris, Kindra, and Matt.
Treasurers Report:
Our region holds $21,585.27 Big American Baffos. We will need to pay CW for the Season and the Porta Johns out there. No other outstanding debts.
RallyX – February event was in line for last Sunday, February 8th, but the NFL decided to have their cumulative event of the season on the exact same Sunday (the audacity). Matt was put out that they didn’t even call us to see if it was ok, or think that maybe we had plans this day. So Matt had to get RallyX rescheduled to TOMORROW (as I sit writing this) February 15. This months event will be out at Flint’s Off Road Center at 99 Silvertip between Belfry and Bridger. I have a bag of Bacon Grilled Cheese Lay’s I am hoping to bring. This is our newest RallyX venue, so if you happened to miss it last season, be sure to come and check it out. Like a half-finished project car without an emergency brake sitting in a sloped driveway, RallyX is picking up momentum and is possibly the best time you could have in this not-so-cold winter.
Timing board – Matt reset the computer, unplugged it and plugged it back in and it’s now working longer than 2 seconds. Good Job Matt! Sometimes that’s all it needs….. Take it out. Put it back in.
Metra – Really should just delete this section (sad face)
Taxes – Carl has done the dad thing and filed taxes for the club. Woooo! Go dad!
Poster – Briant will begin the AutoX poster photo contest here soon. Les and Micah took some great photos this last season, and Carl has them all uploaded to the inter-webs. Mainly FaceBook. Peruse the options, and SAVE’ THE PHOTOS TO YOUR PHONE!!! DO NOT TAKE ‘SCREEN SHOTS’ BECAUSE THE FINAL RESOLUTION WILL BE NUTZ!! If you have questions about how to best do this on your device, Google it. When the contest begins, there will be guidelines to follow for the best possible outcome. Please help make it easy on the poster guy. Remember, he is doing this as a donation. It shouldn’t have to be difficult if he’s not getting paid.
AutoX schedule – We discussed possible upcoming venues, and how to make our schedule work with incorporating the Shrine as a replacement for the Metra, however, the Shrine dumped a whammy on us. The South end of the lot will be under repairs this summer. So what does that mean? Well, the glass half-empty guy says “We’re out another venue, this sucks” and the glass half-full guy would say, “Well, when they’re done, we will have fresh, new, awesome, parking lot asphalt to play on”. More to come as we finalize our Summer event schedule. Helena events are pretty much set, and YDS has a full Drag schedule. Carl is working tirelessly to get us some valid dates that will make for a great season. It sounds as though we will have a good amount of dates this season, we still have 10 race days in the works. Remember, we are still looking for venues. Keep your eyes peeled and minds open. Lewistown dates are August 8-9 which is the same weekend as a Bozeman event so might be slim pickin’s for competition. Columbus Airstrip took our paperwork and will present it to the Airport board. “They seem receptive, which is great” Carl says. We would like to see a June or September event out there. Roundup Airstrip is still up in the air, we are unsure if we can secure any dates here. More to come I’m sure. Until then, if you have any ideas about venues, reach out to Carl. We hope to have a finalized schedule soon.
Safety Meeting – The new updated child riders guidelines have been solidified, our safety meeting papers have been updated. There is no longer a height requirement for riders. ONLY MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS. Riders MUST HAVE online consent filled out and approved by SCCA headquarters PRIOR to the day of the event. Underage riders MUST BE 12 YEARS AND OLDER. A reminder to potential riders and parents: The online form is through the SCCA website and takes a little over a week for approval. Please plan accordingly. They are valid for a calendar year, so it is time to update if you plan to keep bringing your kiddos to events. They will expire again in January.
Helmets – The new helmet regulations have come out, we have 10 total helmets, all Snell2015 or newer. Ours are good until 2030. Remember to check yours, make sure to have that model year be BEFORE 2015. If yours is a 2010, time to start shopping, they’re only good through 2026. Chris asked if there was a group buy in with the SCCA to get a better price on a new helmet. Carl said he would look into it, but that the helmet might have LOANER on it. Remember helmets will also need to be teched for the year at our annual Tech Day, May 2nd.
Helena – Events for Helena, with TOP GUN and ConeHeads confirmed. TOP GUN is August 21-23 and ConeHeads is September 19-20. Lots of dates set in Helena so far.
Cleanup – Trailer cleanup day set for April 26th. We will need help this day, lots of fun and stories. Make sure to head over to help. Fun is what you make it. Scrubbing cones or playing with a power washer is fun if you have an imagination.

March 1 – Bridger (Flints)
March 22 – Big Sky
April 12 – Big Sky

This month’s meeting was pretty short AGAIN. Not a lot going on, and we were able to wrap it up early. Boring A$$ meeting tonight. Discussion of Tire Plugs and Turbos. Both blow. Jet Skis and trout? Both get thirsty. Get to a meeting. Carl always has lots of chairs. Could have the final schedule this next month….. you never know.
