Meeting today, January 8th, 2026 at Carl’s shop, Laurel Auto Clinic in Laurel, MT. Attendees tonight include Carl, Jerod, Matt, Kindra, Chris, Jared, Micah, Luke, Briant and Dean. Not many, but proud were the few who showed up. Seems the temperatures weren’t too far from our last AutoX temps in October, Briant brought up that we should just have an AutoX event this coming weekend, or add it to our scheduled RallyX event. AutoX in January. Out of the ordinary for the region, but not for the SCCA. It could be done….
*Treasurers Report:
Apparently we have some money, Lane was not here tonight, Carl reports that he thinks we have “north of 20 something, we have $$, this is good”.
*RallyX – RallyX has been strong so far this year, lots of new faces and a fun time thus far. Our last YDS event will take place today (January 11th). I plan to go out and hob knob as soon as I finish this newsletter. You could always come out and hang with us, even bring a rolling dumpster to participate with if you’d like. Might even make some season points. Might even like it.
*Metra – Carl has not had any response.
*AutoX schedule – We discussed possible upcoming dates, how to make our schedule work with incorporating the Shrine as a replacement for the Metra. Helena events are pretty much set, and YDS has a full Drag schedule. Carl is working tirelessly to get us some valid dates that will make for a great season. It sounds as though we will have a good amount of dates this season, and we are still looking for venues. Lewistown, Columbus Airstrip, Roundup Airstrip, etc. We will see if they would allow us to come out and play, and if they have a pad we could implement for versatility. Columbus has a nice return road we might be able to use. More to come I’m sure. Until then, if you have any ideas about venues, reach out to Carl. We hope to have a finalized schedule soon.
*Safety Meeting – The new updated child riders guidelines have been solidified, our safety meeting papers have been updated. There is no longer a height requirement for riders. ONLY MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS. Riders MUST HAVE online consent filled out and approved by SCCA headquarters PRIOR to the day of the event. Underage riders MUST BE 12 YEARS AND OLDER. A reminder to potential riders and parents: The online form is through the SCCA website and takes a little over a week for approval. Please plan accordingly. They are valid for a calendar year, so it is time to update if you plan to keep bringing your kiddos to events. They will expire again in January.
*Helmets – The new helmet regulations have come out, we have 10 total helmets, all Snell2015 or newer. Ours are good until 2030. Remember to check yours, make sure to have that model year be BEFORE 2015. If yours is a 2010, time to start shopping, they’re only good through 2026. Chris asked if there was a group buy in with the SCCA to get a better price on a new helmet. Carl said he would look into it, but that the helmet might have LOANER on it. Remember helmets will also need to be teched for the year at our annual Tech Day, May 2nd.
*AutoX – Events for Helena, with TOP GUN and ConeHeads confirmed. TOP GUN is August 21-23 and ConeHeads is September 19-20. Lots of dates set in Helena so far.
*Cleanup – Trailer cleanup day set for April 26th. We will need help this day, lots of fun and stories. Make sure to head over to help. Fun tasks and lots of hands make for an easy day.
