EVENT ADDED AT YELLOWSTONE DRAG STRIP FOR SEPTEMBER 12

The Yellowstone Drag Strip has been reopened on a limited basis for drag racing on two weekends. The operator has graciously accepted the Region's request to hold a Solo event on Sunday, September 12, 2010. The pit area at the drag strip is a fantastic Solo site, so make plans to attend. If you haven't attended any Solo events in 2010, this is the one to attend!

Have you seen one of our posters around town or stopped by an event and are interested in participating? It's easy! All you need is a valid driver's license and a car that will pass tech inspection. If you still have questions, send an e-mail to a board member on our Contacts page or ask an official at an event. You can be out there having fun before you know it!

DO YOU KNOW YOUR SCCA SOLO RULES?

When you are making a claim against your collision coverage for property damage that happened to your car during a Solo event, you will tell the insurance agent or adjuster that:

A. Solo events are timed competitions or races were only one driver participates as a time

-or-

B. A Solo event is a non-speed, driving skill contest

(Make sure you answer the question carefully and correctly!)

Event Fees:
$20 SCCA members;
$35 non-members;
$25 member of other Billings area car club; and
$20 "first-timer" (for 2010)

Times:
Course set-up at 7:00 a.m.
Registration and tech inspection from 8:00 a.m.

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT CLASS YOUR CAR IS IN!
Course walk-thru from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
Drivers' meeting at 9:15 a.m.
First car out 9:30 a.m.

Registration Process
1.    At registration desk, sign waiver and receive wristband and registration form.
2.    Fill out registration form completely and clean out and prepare car for tech inspection.
3.    Present car and registration form to the tech inspector.
4.    After tech inspector signs off on registration form, return to registration desk and pay entry fee.
5.    Be prepared for drivers' meeting.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN DIVISION ANNOUNCES DIVISIONAL EVENTS

Divisional events emulate the Solo National Championship event to give local competitors a flavor of the "Nationals Experience." Events are scheduled for June 26-27 in El Paso, TX, July 24-25 at Fountain, CO, and August 21-22 at Farmington, NM. Contact lswilson9@gmail.com for details.

CHECK THE RATINGS ON YOUR HELMETS FOR THE 2010 SEASON

According to January's issue of FastTrack (p. 6), SNELL will have two active standards. That being said, the previous 3 SNELL ratings will be allowed. Check your helmets for the following ratings: SA2005, SA2000, SA95, M2010, M2005, M2000, M95, K2005, K98.
